Description

What is an ioniser?

If you want to have a clear and healthy pool, you have to disinfect it. You can do this using chlorine, but it's not the best solution for everyone. With the help of an ioniser, you can disinfect your swimming pool without needing a lot of chlorine.

An ioniser disinfects the water with the help of copper. An ioniser consists of a kind of bottle containing two copper fins that are maintained at low voltage. This releases copper ions that have a strong cleansing effect and keep algae out of the swimming pool.

Advantages and disadvantages of an ioniser

Advantages of an ioniser

  • Disinfects the water
  • Prevents irritation to the eyes and airways
  • Fewer maintenance products needed
  • No cyanuric acid in the water
  • Requires hardly any maintenance

The dissolving of coper ions in the water ensures a strong antibacterial effect. Copper disinfects and cleans the water and repels algae.

Chlorine often has a strong odour and can irritate the eyes and airways. Children and people with sensitive skin, in particular, benefit from a minimum of chlorine in the water. With an ioniser, you don’t have to suffer the annoying properties of chlorine.

Disinfecting the pool with the help of an ioniser ensures lower consumption of maintenance products. In swimming pools with a Starline ioniser, only a small amount of inorganic chlorine products has to be used. Consumption is a lot lower compared with ordinary chlorine products.

The Starline ioniser does not actually require any maintenance. The automatic cleaning of the ioniser electrode is a unique feature of the Starline Ioniser. However, you do have to check the copper and chlorine content regularly. Depending on the use and content of the swimming pool, the copper fins need to be replaced after a few years. The electrode has to be checked at least once a year.

Disadvantages of an ioniser

  • Chlorine still needed (though a very limited amount)
  • Expensive to buy
  • Using the wrong chlorine can damage the copper fins

Disinfecting a swimming pool without the use of chlorine is impossible. You still have to use chlorine with an ioniser, but a lot less. Depending on the circumstances, you save as much as 60-80%. Inorganic chlorine products of the HTH range are more expensive than normal chlorine but, with the ioniser, their consumption is much lower.

An ioniser is not cheap. However, its user-friendliness and the minimal maintenance required by the installation certainly compensate for this. The clear, well-designed display is easy to operate.

However, if organic chemicals are used in combination with the ioniser, there is a risk of damage to the copper fins. In particular, the disinfecting chemicals found in normal chlorine disrupt the proper functioning of the Starline ioniser.

Why Starline?

The automatic cleaning of the ioniser electrode is a unique feature of the Starline Ioniser. The device therefore does not require any maintenance. A single check-up per year is sufficient.

Choosing a Starline Ioniser means opting for a chlorine-free way of disinfecting and maintaining your swimming pool.

The Starline ioniser can easily be connected to your present installation and does not require any major intervention. The ioniser is designed for swimming pools of up to 200 m³ but can also be adjusted to any pool size. The installation is fully automatic, ensuring carefree enjoyment of your pool!

The Starline Ioniser is suitable for every type of swimming pool. Indoor pools, outdoor pools, new or existing pools, with a capacity of up to around 200 m³. However, the Starline Ioniser is also ideal for whirlpools or therapy baths.
